Just right of centre in the image, the Social Sciences Tower Building is being built. Wharerata is located in front and to the right of the incomplete tower.

The centre of the picture is taken up by the concourse, which includes the Library (right), Student Centre (left) and Science Towers (back). Behind the three Science Towers building work has started on the Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences Building - the neighbouring Agricultural Engineering Building is already nearing completion - with the Riddet Complex located to the immediate left of the construction site, Colombo Hall located further left, and the Veterinary Sciences Complex in front - to the right of the Science Towers.

Directly across the road from the Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences Building construction site and the neighbouring Veterinary Sciences Complex stands the Boiler House.

On the far right of the image, Walter Dyer Hall stands alongside Craiglockhart, while to the left of the Student Centre are the buildings built during the Massey Agricultural College era: the Main Building, original Registry Building, Tiritea House, McHardy Hall (originally known as the Pink Hostel), Refectory and Old Hostel. There is also an unspecified clearing between the Old Hostel and the nearby carpark that seems to indicate the location of the old swimming pool (now abandoned).

Below the Main Building are the buildings that were originally built as the wool classing, farm machinery, carpenters' workshop, fitter shop and the concrete shop facilities for Massey Agricultural College, but would be reused for multiple purposes over the following years, and are today known as the Courtyard Complex. At this time they were being used by Ground Maintenance and Service Maintenance.

Behind McHardy Hall are the Rehab Hostels and the Young Farmers' Club Memorial Hostel, and in the background are the Wool Building, interim Biology Building and three brand new Student Halls of Residence: Rotary Court, Egmont Court and City Court.
