In the foreground, the new Registry Building is being constructed between the Old Main Building (Sir Geoffrey Peren Building) and the Social Sciences Complex. Wharerata and its gardens are in the bottom right corner, close to the Social Sciences Complex.

The old swimming pool, which was no longer in use at this time, is visible in the bottom left corner of the image. Behind it are the Old Hostel and McHardy Hall, with the Refectory further to the left, out of shot. Tiritea House stands some distance to the right of McHardy Hall and behind the Old Registry Building, which itself stands behind the Main Building.

In the centre of the image (behind the new Registry Building construction site) are the Student Centre, the Library and the Science Towers, with the Veterinary Sciences Complex further to the the left, and the Boiler House diagonally opposite from it across the road.

In the background are (from right to left) the Agricultural Engineering Building, Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences Buildings A & B, the Riddet Complex, Colombo Hall, the Rehab Hostels, the Young Farmers' Club Memorial Hostel, and (behind them) the new student residences of Rotary, Egmont and City Courts, as well as the interim Biology Building and the Wool Building.
