The protest was against apartheid in South Africa and their national rugby team's apartheid-influenced racial "colour-bar", meaning the team consisted of only white players. The leaflet argues that the South African team was breaking international sporting code, along with pleas to the New Zealand Rugby Union, the Maori people, all practising Christians, and the New Zealand public in general to boycott the games. Two main headlines state that "if you go to the Springbok games, you are supporting apartheid" and "if you stay away, you are protesting against apartheid".
