Wallaceville Animal Research Centre Album, 1903-1970

This photograph album contains twenty-six pages housing 72 photographs, primarily from the Wallaceville Animal Research Centre over a 57 year period from 1903 to 1960, but also a small quantity from Massey University dated from 1963 to 1971.

The album features a wide variety of scenes ranging from buildings to group photos of staff and visitors (such as Sir Arnold Theiler) and individuals (including John A Gilruth and Cyril S. Hopkirk), as well as a few scenes showing buildings and structures under construction. It is also believed that the album once belonged to Ira James Cunningham, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, who worked at Wallaceville before coming to Massey University.

All photographs are pasted onto paper. The album also included two loose photos that appear to be duplicate images of two on one of the pages. There was also a duplicate of a staff photo that includes captions identifying the individuals in the image, and a letter from Professor Ira Cunningham. These latter items are now separate from this album.
