Tamaki Co-operative Dairy Company Limited. Early cheesemaking bay, 1920s

The Tamaki Co-operative Dairy Company's cheese-making room at Te Rehunga. The room contained eight vats in which cheese was made. The first vat in the picture has two of the items used in cheese-making: a mechanical curd cutter. At the end of the first vat can be seen rolls of cheese cloth which were used to wrap the cheese curd after pressing but before being put in the cool room. Pasteurising equipment can be seen at the far end of the room.
