Small settlement in the bush, 1840s-1870s

The settlement consists of a number of tent homes and at least one home made from logs with a corrugated iron roof. Some wagons are laid up next to their owner's home with animal pens. Some logs have been cut and used for pens and firewood. In the foreground there appears to be a trench with sawn wood on top. The trench appears to be for the use of a cross-cut saw to turn logs into lumber. The forest is thick and would be typical of the type of bush which had to bleared before farming could begin.
