Alfred Hildous Hansen
Alfred Hildous Hansen was the chairman and board member of a number of dairy companies. Born in Kairanga in 1883, Mr Hansen took up a balloted farm in the Te Rehunga district on 20 June 1907. He married his wife Clara, born on Rangitikei Line, in 1913. Both were active participants in local affairs.
In 1916 A.H. Hansen was elected to the board of the Tamaki Co-operative Dairy Company as a director. In 1919 he was elected Chairman of the Board and remained so through amalgamations, depressions and war until 1962 when he retired from the same position on the Ruahine Co-operative Dairy Company Board. He remained as a director of the Ruahine Co-operative Dairy Company until he retired in 1965. A.H. Hansen had seen 3 different companies, the Tamaki Co-operative Dairy Company, the Tamaki-Kiritaki Co-operative Dairy Company, after amalgamation, then the Ruahine Co-operative Dairy Company after amalgamation through a number of phases.
In 1953 he was awarded an O.B.E. (Order of the British Empire) for services to local government in the Queen's Coronation Honours. He was a life member of the Ruahine Rugby Club and a stalwart supporter. He died 1 December 1965.Awards and honoursO.B.E. (1953)ContributorNew Zealand Institutions
