DescriptionArthur C. Webber, who built the first butter factory at Te Rehunga in 1905.
Arthur C. Webber won a lot in the first Te Rehunga land ballot held in 1905. He had established a creamery in the Oringi area while farming in the Woodville area. Consequently the other settlers in the Te Rehunga District asked him to establish a creamery in the Te Rehunga area. By the end of 1905 there were two creameries in the district. One owned by A.C. Webber, and one owned by the Hawke's Bay Dairy Company. The settlers preferred the Webber factory.
In 1909 A.C. Webber sold his creamery to the newly formed Tamaki Co-operative Dairy Company. The Webber butter factory continued to be used for various purposes until 1923 when it was demolished, along with other buildings, to make room for the very much larger, renovated, butter and cheese factory built by the Tamaki Co-operative Dairy Company.
